The mission of the Susie McClure Library is to promote literature and curate digital and print collections centered on Christian faith, culture, traditions of African American Congregations, African American Communities, and African American thought, along with life-long learning, moral inquiry, and a commitment to social justice, and Christ-centered service.

History

The library was built in 1953 and was originally named the Thomas Luther Holcomb Library in honor of  Dr. T.L. Holcomb, a leading Southern Baptist minister and corresponding secretary of the Baptist School Board from 1935 to 1953. The library was renamed to honor Susie McClure, who is known for her work in the Baptist Church throughout the country and is a member of Fifteenth Avenue Baptist Church in Nashville, Tennessee.
